Kathleen, was indeed using her skills as a tax auditor to get out of her escape challenge, and when she mentioned that the taxes were coming due. She was freed from the ropes and even offered a much easier afternoon ahead of herself.
Though Kathleen worked/talked her way out of most of the ropes there were still more to be freed.
